SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 40-year-old Summerside man has been charged in relation to an assault that occurred at a Summerside area hotel on Nov. 4, 2019.

Early yesterday morning, police arrested Dwayne Maurice Butler as he was being released from jail after having served a sentence for unrelated matters.

Butler was placed back in custody and charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He has been remanded and will appear in court again on Jan. 9.

Previously, 22-year-old Cole Edward Hearn had been arrested and charged with several offences in relation to this incident and has been in custody since his arrest.
